BIO

Berty Skuber was born in in Bolzano, Italy, where she spent the first eighteen years of her life. She started to live in many different places: Milan, Venice, Paris, Djerba….in 1969 she met the poet and writer Henry Martin, who came to Italy to teach at the Università Bocconi, Milan and since than they lived together, again in many different places: Venice, Milan, Paris, Philadelphia, NY, Nice, Vienna and Aica di Fiè, the place Berty still lives now. 

Statement 

She sees her work as a kind of fantastic encyclopedia, articulated and explored thanks to a wide range of media: drawing, collage, painting, sculpture, video, books, objects, photography, installation, assemblage, pyrography, true or simulated writing. She exhibits her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Europe and in the United States since the early ’70s.
