CMB artist's statement:
Human gesture and expression is one way to think about asemic writing. My own technique for asemic calligraphy is similar to abstract painting by Jackson Pollock as he would gesture with lines of paint while 'being in the moment'. When I lift my pen, pencil, or brush off the surface during asemic writing, I am consciously relating to calligraphic signs and symbols, though in an abstracted manner. I can perform (improvise) my asemic writing aloud with asemic sounds as if speaking in tongues or in jazz music terms, with “skat”. It's also interesting to improvise an asemic conversation with others.
Cecil, when you get a chance, please add the 2nd "t" at the end of Bennett, both in the heading and in the Labels section. I think it's wonderful that you are taking the seed of Willie Marlowe's 1st exhibit in NY, and expanding it with new calls for panels & new exhibitions! Thankyou.
